(AFP) - RGGI Repeal Passes NH House!Submitted by xmission on Thu, 02/24/2011 - 19:05 |
On Wednesday, the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly — 246 to 104 — to repeal the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) -- HB 519. AFP is leading this repeal. If HB 519 passes New Hampshire will become the first state to repeal this global warming cap-and-trade energy tax system that has damaged our state’s economic competitiveness.
I would like thank you for taking action to help repeal the RGGI. We have achieved a monumental first step in removing our state from this massive failure of a mandate.
The New Hampshire House Finance Committee is the next step. Don’t kid yourselves, Green organizations and the liberal media will be out in full force. Here is an Op-ED bashing AFP from today’s Portsmouth Press Herald. The liberal’s goals are to pressure and intimidate elected officials not to support the repeal. Take a moment to call your Representative and State Senator and urge them to vote for HB 519. Click here to find your State Senator.
Don’t forget to remind them that RGGI has proved to be a massive failure, damaging our state’s economic competitiveness and costing taxpayers an already mind-boggling $28.2 million in the last two years alone!
Phil Kerpen, Vice President of Policy for AFP noted the importance of this vote stating, “The overwhelming veto-proof, bipartisan vote today means that New Hampshire is now on a path to doing something that looked impossible just a couple years ago — repeal a cap-and-trade program. In the process, it could deal the death blow to cap and trade both regionally and nationally.” Click here to read more.
Thank you again for your continuous support and activism for this critical repeal. Together, we will remove New Hampshire from the disastrous RGGI program and get our great state back on the path to prosperity.
Sincerely,
Corey R. Lewandowski
